Russell completes three boiler inspection jobs in
Sweden:
The Russell team of Dave Russell and Patrick Lake
broke all records last week when they inspected three boilers
using the
VertiScan System within 10 days in Sweden.
Repeat customer, Claes Goransson of Inspecta AB,
expressed his delight with the way the TubeCAT crawler worked
flawlessly on the jobs.
The work was completed on very short notice (the
call came on Sunday and we were flying on Monday).
One pulp mill customer (Sodra Cell) has used the
VertiScan last year. The other two customers were new to us, but
said that we would definitely be back.
The
three jobs consisted of the following:
1) 63 mm composite tubes, 18m long in a pulp mill (i.e.
stainless steel on the outside and carbon steel inside)
2) 63 mm carbon steel tubes, also 18m long in a pulp mill
3) 63mm carbon steel tubes in a 3-pass waster burning power
station
On all three jobs, the crew were impressed with
the preparation of the tubes and the general tidiness of the
plants. "We often have to deal with scale and clinker on the
tubes, but these customers realized the value of a good
inspection by cleaning the tubes prior to our arrival. It made
our job easier, and data quality was great"
Interestingly, the waste burning plants in Sweden
provide hot water for domestic use and to heat homes as well as
producing power for the grid, while disposing of waste products
in an environmentally sound manner. Household garbage is sorted
within the homes, and only the combustibles are burned in the
boiler (paper, plastics and food waste). The German engineered
boilers have operated reliably for forty years, providing the
Swedes with a good return on their investment!
We are looking forward to working in Sweden
again. It is very like Canada in climate and vegetation, and
the bonus is that all the Swedes speak English! |
