Folks: Its February again and like
always Russell NDE Systems Inc. participated both as exhibitors and
speakers at the IPEIA 2009, Banff.
In the morning session of conference
Ankit Vajpayee conducted a work shop on the topic
“Use of Material Compensation to enhance the accuracy of RFT
Inspections”.
The workshop was attended by the
plant inspectors and reliability engineers.
Introduction to workshop: If the tubes in the Heat Exchanger
Bundle have a mixture of tubes in them (eg maybe it was
partially re-tubed or maybe the manufacturer used tubes from
two or thee different suppliers, or maybe just the two
middle rows are thicker material) there is an alarm in the
software that tells you that the base phase of the current
tube is different from the saved base phase from the cal
tube (or a reference tube in the bundle), and you are given
the option of compensating for the difference by pressing a
material compensation button. When you do that, the software
automatically rotates the data the required amount and
squeezes or expands the data to compensate for the different
material.
It was the first trade show/conference for Thien and he
enjoyed both the exhibits and work shop sessions.
