Sept 5, 2006-Russell gets certifies for Chevron NDT inspection service
The Ferroscope 308 RFT System was used recently on the carbon steel test bundle at Chevron, Richmond Research Centre.  It found all the critical flaws and sized all flaws detected within the required 15% and within 2” of actual location.
Mark Seiwald of Chevron advised Dave Russell that the certification is good for 3 years, and allows him, and the Ferroscope, to perform RFT inspection work at Chevron sites worldwide.
Sept 2, 2006 -  Russell and PPIC successfully complete 10km inspection in Taiwan

Russell NDE Systems Inc and the Pressure Pipe Inspection Company have completed the inspection of just over 10 km of concrete pressure pipe in Taiwan.  The customer was impressed enough to award a further 5 km of work to the team.
Concrete pressure pipes carry large volumes of raw water from reservoirs to water treatment plants. When they fail, the failure is often catastrophic, and the water can cause a great deal of damage before it can be turned off.  In this instance, the customer had experienced some prior failures due to broken re-enforcing wires, and were looking for a reliable method of detecting any more “distressed” pipes.  The PPIC patented technique can detect breaks from as little as one broken strand.  We are looking forward to an expanded working relationship with PPIC and customers in Taiwan and China
Sept 2, 2006 -  UT inspection work for AMEC and CH2MHill

The ultrasonic inspection work for AMEC and CH2MHill is well under way. Steel truss bridges in Alberta are subject to flexural loading and fatigue cracking in certain members, so the Alberta Transportation Division performs a regular inspection of the trusses.
An angle-beam flaw detection technique is used to detect the flaws. Some of the bridges are over 200’ above the river level, so the technician must not have a fear of heights!
