Inspection of Polyethylene Lined Pipelines

Many general pipeline contractors have services, like United Pipeline Systems, to install high density polyethylene (HDPE) liners in pipelines.  Liners offer protection from corrosive elements such as H2S and CO2; however, they make the pipelines virtually un-inspectable by traditional techniques such as MFL (Magnetic Flux Leakage). Russell has in-line inspection (ILI) tools that use remote field technology (RFT) to inspect through such liners with accuracy that compares well to MFL.

Tite Liner® is a thermoplastic lining system that creates a tight-fit liner inside the existing host pipe, extending the life of pipeline assets by protecting them from internal corrosion. To learn more about HDPE liners and United’s capabilities, visit its website at http://www.unitedpipeline.com/.
