Russell and PICA complete 7km steel pipeline for BC Hydro

BC Hydro has a 12" steel pipeline which supplies reservoir water to cool its condensers. The line is in critical service, in that the water that it carries is essential for proper plant operation.

When a leak was suspected in the pipeline, Russell/PICA were called in to find the leaks and any other degraded areas.

The inspection Team consisted of Paul Ryhanen, Martin Korz, Gerald Bouchard, Dave Russell and Bill Jappy.  The Tool ran for 26 hours through the line, arriving at the predicted time at the receiver. Data Analysis was performed by Sonya Semaniuk and Jake Regala with review by Team Leader Ad Shatat. The inspection was a complete success, and BC Hydro will use the information provided in order to re-furbish the pipeline and extend its useable life.

In the photo above, the ILI Tool is received near the plant. For more info: info@russelltech.comwww.picacorp.com; +1(780) 468-6800 (Sales)
