Ankit Vajpayee, M.Sc., P.E. addressed the NACE San Francisco Section Meeting on Nov, 12th 2013. The subject of the talk is described below:
Explore Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and its benefits with Ankit during our next program. Learn why globally, one-third of our filtered, chlorinated and pumped water never reaches its destination and how proactively performing preventative maintenance (Direct Condition Assessment – DCA) using advanced electromagnetic In-Line Inspection (ILI) Technologies can reduce the risk of failure in aging pipelines.
Most cast iron, ductile iron and steel pipelines globally are at, or nearing their design life. Leaks and failures are daily occurrences and often lead to major damage, injuries and sometimes casualties. Statistics show that the world average leakage rate of treated, potable water is over 32%!
NDT has been Ankit’s passion area since college and he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience while discussing the basic principles of the technology, its deliverables and describes several case studies where it has been successfully used to do Direct Condition Assessment (DCA) of raw water, potable water and waste-water pipelines.
